The author’s voice and storytelling woven together with facts, scientific vocabulary, and research is highly engaging. She renounces her father's ideals and joins the Bottoms, Shylock, and Nostradamus in exile. The Puritans leave and Nick tells Nigel what the soothsayer said, but neglects to tell him that it was not Nick's own idea. There is real science, real social conscience, and real empathy for our fellow animals mixed together in a lively tale that keep me riveted the entire time.
