3 out of 3 found this helpful. To put it simply...was weird at times. After I found out the Aarif was in this movie I was all about watching it! Legendary Chinese anti-hero Zhong Kui, a young man endowed with mysterious powers who is forced into a battle among the realms of Heaven, Earth and Hell in the course of his attempt to save his countrymen and the woman he loves. Story of two lovers, the White-Haired Witch and Taoist leader Zhuo Yihang and their love that could change the fate of the nation. Año: 2017. The story has a bunch of heroic human characters teaming up to battle evil demons and all kind of magical manifestations, typically taking the form of giant fish and dragons and assorted CGI-heavy spectacle. Yuen Woo (Wo) Ping is best known for being the action director/choreographer of such films as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Matrix trilogy, and Tarantino's Kill Bill. Was enjoyable. IMDb, the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. THE THOUSAND FACES OF DUNJIA is yet another generic CGI fantasy adventure flick from mainland China; I was hoping it would offer something a little different given the participation of writer Tsui Hark and director Yuen Woo Ping, but sadly it wasn't meant to be.

For your comparison, I think in Thor: Ragnarok, it tried too hard. The effects are not as good as hollywood, but still to be encouraged.

Even though it seemed disjointed at times and the characters weren't as developed as they could've been, it was still entertaining enough for me to want to see more of this story and the cast. Far from the best Asian movie I've purchased, and relegated to the "I wish I could have rented this rather than buying in order to see." I feel the comedy worked. Original title: The Thousand Faces of Dunjia. Good product. It is a remake of the 1982 film The Miracle Fighters also directed by Yuen.
