I've not read the books, so I cannot say how good Legend of the Guardians is as an adaptation. 8 out of 11 found this helpful. The CGI is a top notch, i watched this movie 3 times over the last ten years, the last time was couple of days ago and it did not feel old or unrealistic by today's standrads. "How To Train Your Dragon" and especially "Toy Story 3" are stunning in terms of quality and technicalities. The Legend of the Guardians is a kid's adventure movie that has plenty of action, but never soars. It has the perfect balance not to childish and not only for adults. Forget about rotten tomatoes ratings and boxoffice revenues, this is an amazing experience even by 2019 standards. If you go into the theater expecting The Secret of NIMH you will be sorely disappointed with the story. One day, Soren and Kludd fall out of their nest while learning to fly alone and they are kidnapped by evil owls to work for Metalbeak and Nyra. Synopsis Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers.

This movie shouldn't be stacked against others in its genre, as most critics are wont to do, because it does have several unique qualities, as do most movies. I suppose this is that movie that's a third generation retelling of an older more established fantasy settings and hero's journey. 1 on Sunday, earning $4.6 million (US). The fans thought they were being served another helping of heroes to follow, and they just weren't ready. The first preview was for the then upcoming Warner Bros. film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. This movie should have been much much better than it turned out. Meanwhile, Soren flies through a Furious, Soren grabs a burning branch and attacks Metal Beak.

As a woman of a 'certain age', originality has worn a bit thin for me and really is a LOT to ask these days. When a young owl is abducted by an evil Owl army, he must escape with new-found friends and seek the legendary Guardians to stop the menace. But this movie was destined to be passed over because of its immediate predecessors. Coonan wanted the sequence to be a playful experiment in 2D and 3D, because the classic storytelling form of shadow puppets is essentially a 2D medium.

It just doesn't make sense. From beginning to end, the extraordinary animation, direction by Zach Snyder, and music by David Hirschfelder, combines to create a continuous and graceful flow of light, movement and sound. I say children need to see more movies like this, instead of watching movies and shows that are just comprised of fart and burp jokes. A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil is taking place.

The fact that they're owls never sticks out to a negative and the fantasy aspects of the story kick and carry the weight of the plot nice and properly. Soren reaches the burning branch just in time and manages to impale Metal Beak, killing him.

Time is never taken to explore these wonderful characters in greater detail, where as these characters probably leapt off the page in the novel by Kathryn Lasky, and had that time been taken it could have added some much needed emotional connection. Was this review helpful?

Snyder never takes the time to drink in the fantastical imagery spun by his animators, and the same goes for the characters. 8 out of 9 found this helpful. this movie is just fantastic because it has everything.. fun, drama, courage, family, war.. you name it.
