I asked my dad to rent it and he did. Ergo the Magnificent tries to turn Colwyn into a duck for making fun of him, but it backfires, duck-ifying Ergo instead.

i have found recent directorial comments on dvd's to be self-serving. This movie is half way between being so bad, it's good and being so good, it's er...good.

Not as huge a fan of, Krull, as most men my age who loved the Sword & Sorcery movies of the 80's. and the least is all i have to say. did you / do you play D&D?) Lyssa literally The one impersonating the Emerald Seer got away with it through the simple expedient of never opening his eyes when the heroes were looking at him; the one trying to seduce Colwyn only blew her cover when she manifested her claws. Part of the marriage ceremony in this story involves the female taking a literal fire from a ceremonial pool and holding it in her immune-to-this-flame bare hand. Was this review helpful? A being of awesome power known as the Beast is the leader of these invaders and it successfully kidnaps a princess meant to marry Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall). The main attraction to me was the music (possibly THE finest film score ever), but the film itself is entertaining. I mean come on, they have awesome visuals of Ken Marshall (or stuntman) just dangling on those awesome huge mountains.
Krull has a very special vibe to it, that is hard to describe in words. 9 out of 11 found this helpful. And no part felt boring for a child in the 80s in this movie. The Cyclops race made a deal with the Beast, who cheated them and made them one of his mortal enemies. I grew up in the 80s with my grandparents renting this on VHS over and over again. (it's been 15years).. And this one actually has the most amazing weapon used in any movie out there period. Great effects for it's time that might look outdated by todays CGI standards, but that shouldent take away much if your looking for a Classic Sci-fi fantasy movie from the 80s. It's certainly derivative, but shines in moments of originality.

It has a bit of Star Wars and a bit of Sword in the stone/King Arthur mixed in to this perfect fantasy like adventure movie.

the GREATEST SCORE in cinema history.The film is quite good with some British actors in early roles (Robbie Coltrane,Liam Neeson,Alun Armstrong)and has plenty of action and one eyed bloke who gets crushed inbetween rocks.But the only 2 things that stand out in this movie are 1 The Glave!! "There we go! Krull featured the cyclops, Rell (Bernard Bresslaw), who was cursed with the foreknowledge of his own death; so when his fellow travelers were pinned down by the Slayers he knew enough that he was practically invincible and took them on all on his own! I love these sorts of films; attempts at fantasy which diverge from the usual sort of run of the mill stuff.

I must have seen this on HBO when I was younger like 50 times. i will limit my comments in my reaction to the DVD. In the wake of Star Wars, fantasy films about brave heroes trying to rescue kidnapped princesses were suddenly in demand. Like many of the other user's writing comments, this movie is something that I treasured from my childhood. An attempt to bring both Barbarian and Star Wars geeks together. I ended up asking my parents if I could watch it on my birthday every year after that. 110 out of 139 found this helpful. But then again, the acting isn't brilliant nor are the effects stunning (except for the spider, which is pretty good). Rell has 2 jobs listed on their profile. I must take that back however because I watched last night on digital cable, and it was MUCH cooler then I remembered!!.. I think they brought too much of a sci-fi flavor in this case.

The planet Krull has been invaded by the evil monster The Beast and his army The Slayers, two rival kingdoms have formed a alliance against The Beast and The Slayers, as Prince Colwyn, the son of King Turlord marries Princess Lyssa, daughter of King Eirig, where Prince Colwyn and Princess Lyssa's marriage will unite the two kingdoms and both Colwyn and Lyssa will rule the lands of Krull. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's good; just that I like watching it. The creature was a bit too cheesy, but the story was enthralling, the score is beautiful, and the acting was surprisingly good.

Ynyr dies after revealing where the Black Fortress will teleport to next.Ergo turns himself into a tiger to dispatch the Slayers.Colwyn, with Lyssa's help, creates a flame that burns the Beast.

6 out of 7 found this helpful. 'Fantasy', in the traditional 'Dungeons & Dragons' sense, in the movies is often seen by the general public as a warning sign (and often rightly so). Krull’s depiction of the Cyclops is a perfect case study for the potentially cheesy, but ultimately innate goodness of this swashbuckling adventure. What's really funny is that Krull is rated PG for adult content! Prince must rescue princess from monster. It's too bad other people don't give Krull the credit it deserves. Was this review helpful?
